since the people at the school know me through my children,” Tauss said. “The job will allow me to see my children more during the day."
Tauss is eager to begin her work at the Center. “I plan on organizing the Center and keeping the stability that the interim director, Lita Remsen, has brought to the school,” Tauss said. “We will be looking at the children’s programs and trying to put a stronger emphasis on the children’s developmental and social skills although we will still stress academic progress, especially for the four-year-olds.”
She said that she is looking forward to working with the Center’s teachers. “Every one of the teachers are extremely loyal to the school,” said Tauss. She is also excited about the plans for the new school building. “That will be a real plus for the county.”
A new program will be conducted at the CCLC this fall that Tauss is pleased about. Dr. Martha Ross, professor of early childhood education at James Madison University, will lead an in-service training class for Tauss and the staff once a week for 15 weeks. There are also plans for workshops to include parents as well as teachers of young children.
Tauss said that the classes should help her to learn more about early childhood education. She is confident, though, in her abilities and about what qualities she will add to the Center.

plans festival
The Town of Orange plans tc holds its 11th annual street festiva on Main Street Sept. 7 from 9 a.m to 5 p.m.
The festival this year feature* about 130 booths set up by artisan* and crafts people throughout th« eastern part of the country.
