Rappahannock County resident Jewell (Judy) Ball has joined the Total Realty Concept in Culpeper. Jewell lives with her husband, Philip, and teenage son, Andrew, on a small farm in the county.
She was an electrical contractor in Southwest Virginia, providing electrical services and anchoring mobile homes. She specializes in wiring old homes.
The Balls are remodeling an old Victorian farmhouse.
She eryoys raising and training animals, and churning butter and milking the cow are daily routines on the Ball farm. The Balls also have chicks in the incubator or a bottlefed lamb or calf beside the wood stove. Jewell has worked with the Red Devon oxen in Wakefield, Washington’s birthplace, and relaxes by obedience training Hawkeye, her German Shepherd, or by sailing down the road on her Tennessee walking horse, Willie.
She eryoys square-dancing with the Culpeper Lords and Ladies and belongs to the Culpeper Kennel Club. She also plays Renaissance and Baroque music on the recorder, an ancient wood flute. She also has college training in commercial art and eryoys sketching, caligraphy and designing needlework patterns.
Baliles to stump
in Sperryville
Gerald Baliles, Democratic nominee for Governor of Virginia, is scheduled to visit Rappahannock County Sept. 8.
Baliles will be the featured guest at a picnic lunch at the Sperryville carnival grounds beginning at 1 p.m.
State Sen. Virgil Goode of Rocky Mount is the keynote speaker.
