RAPPAHANNOCK NEWS
Lyle Updike showed the
grand champion single at the Page-Warren-Rappahannock Market Hog Show and Sale Aug. 25.
The grand champion won first place in the 215-260-pound weight class, weighing 220 pounds and was sold to Mr. George Wallihan for 21 cents per pound.
Francis Updike showed the Reserve Champion single. His hog weighed 195 pounds and was sold for 19 cents per pound.
There were 36 pigs entered by 12 boys and girls. The show was judged by Arden N. Nuff, 4H livestock specialist of VPI, and graded by Roy H. Chiles, Virginia Division of Markets. In other news, Miss Phyllis Hudson, who attended the Virginia Leadership Training Camp at Camp Farrar in Virginia Beach Aug. 25-28, returned Sunday night a “bit tired” for they kept on the go at camp, but much impressed with the work being done there.
Phyllis attended camp on an award made by the Rappahannock Chapter Farm Bureau.
