Capt. Howard W. Holschuh, U.S. Navy (Retired), is the only candidate from Planning District 9 for the National Silver Haired Congress scheduled for Washington, D. C. next summer. He is competing with four other men and four women from northwestern Virginia to represent the seventh Congressional District at this historic gathering.
Capt. Holschuh served on the Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board, and for the past seven years has been volunteer editor of that organization’s newspaper, the Voice of Experience, which is distributed free to some 4,000 senior citizens in Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock counties. Last August, Captain Holschuh represented Rappahannock County in Virginia’s second Silver Haired Legislature, which considered and approved 15 recommendations for legislation of interest to Virginia’s elderly.
He is a veteran of 30 years service in the U.S. Navy, and holds a Master’s Degree in Journalism from Stanford University. He and his wife, Helen, reside in Castleton, and are members of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. Thay have one daughter
