survey so far
Rappahannock Education Action Project, the drive launched by Dr. Denise Horton and artist/educator Laurie Marshall to bring college level courses to Rappahannock, has distributed questionaires to stores and post offices around the county in an attempt to gauge local interest and need for higher education.
The survey forms were also sent out earlier through the public schools. ‘The 60 responses we’ve received so far show the greatest interest lies in computer and child development courses,' reports Ms. Marshall.
REAP organizers are asking that the questionaires be returned by December 1 so efforts can focus on courses that best meet community needs.
REAP also has scheduled a meeting for December 11 at 2 p.m. in the Middle Street Gallery for those who want to become adjunct faculty for Lord Fairfax, enabling them to teach college credit classes here. To qualify requires a masters degree and 15 hours in the prospective instructor’s field. In addition, REAP hopes to recrute people with work experience who want to teach adult continuing education (noncredit) classes and invites anyone interested in this to attend the December 11 meeting.
