Mr. McCarthy said he has made “occasional efforts” to solicit bids for constructing the entrance ramp and chair lift designed for the rear of the courthouse. Only a single bidder responded and that offer was “33 percent over what our architect said it should cost,” he said.
“I’m sorry, and I will try to fulfill my responsibilities better in this regard,” promised Mr. McCarthy, adding that he will readvertise the project.
