In late spring or early summer, the committee expects to present the family life curriculum for grades kindergarten through 12 to the School Board. The board will hold at least one public hearing and provide an opportunity for parents and citizens to review and comment on the material before taking any action, according to the superintendent.
Both he and Mrs. Tole expressed optimism that work on the standards of learning for other grade levels will proceed as smoothly as that for the kindergarten package. “This is one of the most cooperative groups I’ve ever been associated with.” the committee’s chairman said. “Any questions have been resolved very easily,” she said, describing the recommendations for kindergarten as “good, sound information.”
The committee has “surpassed my expectations,” Dr. Gangel added. “They’ve been very vocal on some issues. There have been some good exchanges. With the rapport that’s shaping up, I expect the good work to continue.”
