Over the weekend of Nov. 3-5, a group of students from the Piedmont Technical Education Center chapter of the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America visited the VICA national headquarters in Leesburg for a training weekend.
During the weekend we learned, among other things, parliamentary procedure, leadership abilities and the duties of each officer.
The members of the VICA chapter said that they would like to thank Otis Gooding, Sue Richards and the administration at PTEC for taking the group to Leesburg and showing them such a wonderful and educational weekend.
On Nov. 2, the P.M. section of the PTEC chapter held its first meeting. Bert Roby, from the state Department of Fire Programs, talked to the group about the importance of fire safety in the home. He also gave a slide presentation.
Mr. Roby is also a member of the Orange County Volunteer Fire Department, and has been its chief since 1985. The members of the class said that they wished to thank Mr. Roby for his presentation.
VICA is an organization for high school students who are interested in pursuing careers in the trade, industrial, technical and health occupation fields.
