Kilpatrick honored
■ Syndicated columnist James J. Kilpatrick of Woodville was one of five Virginia journalists inducted into the Virginia Communications Hall of Fame on March 29. Mr. Kilpatrick, a former editor of the Richmond News Leader, is widely ; known for his commentaries about the use and misuse of language, as well as his political column, "A Conservative View," which is syndicated in more than 500 newspapers. A long-time resident at White Walnut Hill Farm outside Woodville, Mr. Kilpatrick often uses Rappahannock vignettes in his occasional musings about life in the country.
Daylight Savings Time begins
Daylight-Savings Time, the blessing for office workers and the bane of farmers, begins this year at 2 a.m. Sunday, April 2. So plan to set the clock ahead one hour before going to bed Saturday night — or risk arriving at church just as the service ends Sunday morning. Though an hour of sleep will be lost this weekend, those distressed by the prospect may look forward to Sunday, October 29, when they can gain the hour back again when Standard Time returns.
