The annual Road Hearing
for Rappahannock County is scheduled for Friday morning at the courthouse in Washington beginning at 10 a.m. Resident Engineer James K. Skeens will be present along with the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors to hear requests and discussion concerning roads in the county. The regular April meeting of the Board of Supervisors will follow the road hearing.

Bomb threat calls Sunday
night and early Monday morning kept several hundred Aileen Inc. employees away from their jobs at Flint Hill. Rappahannock Sheriff John Walker Jenkins and Chief Deputy Everett Estes checked the plant and area after being notified that an Aileen employee had received a call Sunday night, saying that a bomb had been placed in the plant. Another bomb threat call was received at 6 a.m. Monday at the plant, and again Jenkins and Estes went to check. Meanwhile, the company informed employees of the incidents and advised them to stay at home until noon.
Friday night, March 22, every chair and square foot of the library was occupied when certificates of merit, honorable mentions and prize awards were presented to the elementary school participants in the Rappahannock County Library’s Book Review Contest. Bouquets of spring flowers, plates of cookies and Rappahannock apple cider brought a party atmosphere to the library.
