If you are a farmer, start attend*ing some of the many conferences and field days being held on these subjects, such as the Low-Input Sustainable Agriculture Conference held last week by the Virginia Extension and the Virginia Association of Biological Farmers (VABF); The Organic Sustainable Ag Conference sponsored by the Center for Science in the Public Interest, Americans for Safe Food and the Texas Agriculture Department; and the conference held by NCAMP, the National Coalition Against the Misuse of Pesticides. There are consultants and companies who are providing advice as well as new tools, materials ar|d techniques that are helpful.
As citizens, ask your congress* men and senators what is being doije to research organic methods. A new agriculture bill is being drafted which calls for further research h) this subject — look into it and supj port it. It is a movement which carCt be stopped if enough people care. ''
