“As soon as you found out about the problem, what did you do?” asked BZA member Butch Zindel.
Mr. Ferdetta said he had been at work when his wife called him and told him what the second surveyor had said. He came home and talked with the surveyor. “Then I went immediately to Mr. McCarthy’s office.”
County Administrator John McCarthy pointed out that the stake at the other end of the line had apparently been “rooted up by the highway department,” but another stake was found 50 feet farther on, which was actually 50 feet inside Mrs. Lyster’s line.
“It was incredibly negligent of the first surveyor to take an existing fence line,” commented BZA Chairman Lee Bird.
“It’s absolutely inexcusable,” Mr. McCarthy agreed.
Mr. Ferdetta said he had never received a bill from the original surveyor and had never paid him.
