Student art exhibit opens ! The opening of the Seventh Congressional District High School Art Exhibition will be held at the Middle St. Gallery in Washington on Friday, March 31, from 3:30-6:30 p.m. It features works ‘ by students from high schools in the district's 18 counties, including art by students from Rappahannock County High School and Wakefield School. Laurie % Marshall, who served as one of the exhibit's coordinators and judges, said that "the show provides the only opportunity for many of the students to exhibit in a professional setting." Congressman D. French Slaughter Jr., the exhibition's honorary chairman, may attend the opening, and the public is invited.
County clean up day
RALLYI's annual County Beautification Day will be held this Saturday, April 1, from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Litter coordinator Nina Stamer asked that residents meet at the county park on Route 211 outside Washington, then disperse to clean up some of the county's most littered roadsides. RALLY! will provide trash bags, refreshments and t-shirts to participants. There will be an aluminum drive at RCES from 9:30-11:30 a.m. to benefit next year's seventh grade trip to Williamsburg. Aluminum cans, foil and other products are acceptable. For more information about clean-up day, contact Mrs. Stamer (6753810).
