Rappahannock’s mild-mannered January and February, and our unpredictable March, have many eager for signs of spring.
But according to the state climatologist in Charlottesville, it’s not right around the corner. Jerry Stenger, the research coordinator for the office of State Climatologist Dr. Pat Michaels, explained that their forecast predicts temperatures to be below average for April through June.
Precipitation, Mr. Stenger said, is forecast to be normal, or about 11 inches for the period.
“Normal temperatures for this area (the northern region of Virginia) average 64 degrees during this period,” the researcher said. “We predict this year the Average temperature from April to June to be below that normal. ”
