Although it rained at the end of the campfire as all good scouts do. the girls stuck it out for the anticipated taste of S’mores. This is why we camp and it prepares the girls for a long, Long night of fits of giggles, loud wilderness noises and tent raiding.
As the evening is waring down you have a strong craving for adult company and sympthy, so we “adults” gather at the largest and quietist spot for some swapping of the days events and a game of “Old Maids.”
Since the clock was going on 1 a.m. and there was hardly any silence throughout the camp, the fearfull leaders mustered their last bit of strength and headed for their tents to welcome the sight of a damp cold sleeping bag on a hard ground to try and get three or five hours of sleep.
Eventually silence crept through the camp like a dense fog with only the sound of frogs and night birds singing us to sleep.
Morning brought forth the realization that soon another great “May Madness” will be drawing to an end only to be outdone in 1990.
