COUNTY COORDINATOR
The County of Rappahannock is seeking qualified applicants for the temporary, parr rime (20 hrs per week) position of Gypsy Moth Coordinator The Gypsy Moth Coordinator will direct and coordinate all gypsy morh activities in the County including information distribution, population suppression, etc
The work involves collecting gypsy morh population data on o predetermined grid including, egg mass sompling, adult mole trapping and forest sire data collection. The Coordinator will usually be working alone and will be expected to meet sampling deadlines. The Coordinator will be familiarized with the gypsy morh program and trained in sompling techniques, map reading, record keeping and other administrative matters prior to storting actual work.
In addition, the Coordinator will participate with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in ony subsequent decision-making and intervention activities associated with the Appalachian Integrated Pest Manangemenr Gypsy Morh Project (AIPM). The Coordinator will arrange for, and participate in, public meetings, os necessary, to keep the public informed of project activities. The Coordinator will act as Nason between VDAC5 and the County Administrator.
Applicants must demonstrate an ability to meet and work with the public, os well as to make decisions, organize work and carry out gypsy morh related activities. An ability to work under minimal supervision is required Completion of studies in entomology agricultural related or other biological science is preferred As the position requires driving (a personal vehicle), outdoor work, hiking, map reading, and working alone, the employee must have a valid driver's license, be in good health, have some map reading skills, and be able to work alone.
