he community was saddened to Mear of the death of Mrs. Jessie Miller Turner. We extend our sympathy to her children and families Dr. and Mrs. John Turner in Warrenton and Mr. and Mrs: William S. Dewhirst in Richmond. Mrs. Turner resided on Mt. Salem Avenue, was very active in the Washington Baptist Church and a third grade teacher in the Rappahannock Public School System for many years.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Washington Volunteer Fire Department has a new home for their thrift shop. The shop will have a grand opening on Wednesday, May 31 with refreshments and a door prize of a $5 gift certificate. The shop is located across from the Washington Baptist C hurch and will be open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. til 4 p.m. If you have good clean items to donate call 675-3608.
Miss Vera Pennington of Baltimore, Md. was a guest last week of her brother and sister-in-law7 Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Pennington.
Mrs. Erma Jenkins was a weekend guest of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Butler and family in McLean. Saturday night the Butler family and Mrs. Jenkins were joined by Jeff Butler of Washington (who resides with his grandmother Mrs. Jenkins) and Miss Roni Smith of Arlington for dinner at the Hogate Restaurant in Washington, D.C.
Happy birthday to Mrs. Lewis Butler in McLean and her mother Mrs. Erma Jenkins and her Son Jeff Butler, who all had birthdays in the month of May.
