Mr. Von Fange said, “A lot of these people (members of the committee) have very young children. It’s the people not here tonight, they are the ones responsible for our kids not getting what they need.”
John Tole said, “I wish the world was a bit more perfect than it is . . . We can’t always control what happens with us or with our families.
Hung up on sex ed
“The emphasis of this is not on sex education,” Mr. Tole added, “that is one of the most controversial parts. We’re all uncomfortable with that. That’s too bad because that is one of the most pleasant parts of living. More important is the emphasis on respect — respect for one another and respect for oneself. I have worked with people with tremendous technical ability who have no value systems for dealing with other people ... This is an attempt to bring out respect for oneself. If you have that you can overcome a lot of things. Hopefully wre can learn to care about one another.”
Following the public hearing committee chairman Judy Tole said the committee would meet again on Wednesday, May 31 and “consider your comments and hopefully make you happier. ”
