By SHARON KILPATRICK Rappahannock News Staff Writer The Planning Commission recommended approval for two temporary trailer permits while permanent homes are being constructed and approval for Kenneth F. Aurich to cut off a Five to ten acre subdivision from a 180 acre farm in land zoned agriculture and conservation.
• But the most debate came when Mike Massie, who represents the Board of Supervisors, told his fellow commissioners, “I think it’s time for the Planning Commission to address the issue of affordable housing." He suggested that they start with a definition of "affordable housing. We should not confuse development with affordable housing," he said. A second step, he added, would be to assemble information from federal, state and local sources and surrounding counties, and then “receive input from the citizens at a public meeting, and identify what ad{'Jesses the need for affordable housing. We can only plan; I don’t think we can adopt a policy that would last forever.
