Mr. Kramer said the owners originally requested louvered panels, but he questioned whether they would stand up to heavy use and suggested solid wood panels with a raised inset, which would match the rest of the doors in the establishment.

“Louvered would look more Southern,” ARB member Evelyn Willis observed, “but if the other doors are solid wood I don’t see any basis to turn it down.”

“I have no objection to either one,” board member Rob Parrish added.

All three requests were approved unanimously.

An application presented by Butch Zindel on behalf of Pamela Lynn, for exterior renovation of her house at the corner of Main St. and Blue Ridge Ave., however, brought questions from the board.

They found no problem with the gutters planned for the back of the house, and told Mr. Zindel that they have no authority over the placement or removal of trees.
