"I would like to pay full coverage for everybody." Mr. Massie said. "We would be dropping from 100 percent to 05 percent of $1,035."
“We re giving a five percent raise with one hand and faking it away another place." Stonewall-Hawthorn District Supervisor Robert Anderson said.
“You gentlemen have to settle this now," Mr. McCarthy said.
"I couldn't go lower than $1,300. and I don't like to go that low," Mr. Gilkey said.
"I'll go along with $1,300 if that is the pleasure of the rest of the board." Mr. Massie said.
"I'll go along," Mr. Anderson added.
Next for consideration was the County Extension Service. “How do the rest of you feel about the extra 4H agent?" Mr. Gilkey asked.
"I had to cut out on you last week." Mr. McCarthy said. "1 could be convinced we may need a third agent, but we have no room for a third agent now. We have nowhere to put him."
“I think two people can handle this." Mr. Gilkey said. “There are only three homemaker clubs, and one is not very active. Is it the consensus to strike the extra agent?"
"Until we can look at it, and the county can come up with the space," Col. Bingham said.
When the supervisors moved to the Welfare budget, they took up the issue of the extra >ocial worker.
Mr. McCarthy said that two years ago the supervisors had cut that position out of the budget, and the Social Services Department had had to hire someone part time. Since the county had had to pay the full cost of that work, it had cost more than the county's share of the position. Last year the position was left in the budget, and the position wasn't filled. Mr. McCarthy said.
"It's to our benefit to go with it, and leave it in." Mr. Gilkey said.
Regarding the Health Department budget, Mr. McCarthy said.
