Amissville Health and Fitness Club held its weekly meeting on Tuesday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church on Rt 211. Last week’s meeting featured a discussion on the value of water. Experts say the bpdy requires roughly 1 ounce of water per 2 pounds of body weight.

At the July 18 meeting the subject was “The 10 Biggest Diet Mistakes and How Not to Make Them.” Fort more details call Cathy at 9375024. Fees are 50 cents.

Winners in the cash drawing at the Amissville Firemen’s Carnival were: $1000 to Shawn Brown, Amissville; $500 to Peggy Goff, Warrenton; $50 to Dixie Dodson, Amissville; $50 to Stacy Ketner, Laurel, MD; $25 to Hugh Exton, Amissville; and $25 to Lyn Winningham, Rockingham, MD.

Auxiliary award winners included a color TV to Nelson Burner, Amissville; a recliner table to Dot Bawkey, Rixeyville; a picnic table to Franklin Hitt, Boston; a vacuum to Moses Gribsby, Marshall; and an old ham to Shannon Streagle, Richmond.

Bryan Clark from Amissville participated in national competition for the Students Association of Technology Education in Winston Salem June 20-23. Bryan was recognized as a finalist in the Technology Bowl. He was second in state competition. He was among the top 10 contestants in the nation. Over 300 participated in the competition. J. Swofford was also a finalist in the national competition.
