Congratulations to Pamela Kay Shockelford who was posted to the dean’s list at James Madison University for the spring semester. She is the daughter of Linda Butler Shaw and stepdaughter of Lester Shaw.
Congratulations also to Steven Parker, son of Rev. and Mrs. Steve Parker, upon the award of the T. Brady Saunders Honor Scholarship from Lynchburg College. The scholarship recognizes students in the top ten percent of their class.
Cartoonist John Kilhefner was profiled in last week’s Rappahannock News. He and his family moved to Amissville from Fairfax in December 1986.

According to Butch Zindel, the Rappahannock Athletic Association’s annual picnic will take place at Amssville’s Stuart Field on August 19, extended from July 23 to allow for make up games.
The Bambino all-star game will begin at 10 a.m. The Amissville League will play the Rappahannock League.
Also, the coaches will play the Babe Ruth all-star team at 2 p.m. The minor league teams will also have an all-star game.
There is still time to purchase the $1 tickets being sold by members for a drawing to be held on the same day. Winners need not be present to win a Redskins autographed football donated by Rick Hunt Ford and a Redskins jacket donated by Rankins Sporting Goods.
