DONALDS. BEYER JR.
Beyer thoughtfully addressed some of the toughest problems facing Virginia today.
Having served as an at-large member of the Commonwealth Transportation Board and Fairfax County’s transportation commission, Beyer is attuned to the traffic problems of the Northern Virginia region.
He strongly supports the expansion of the Dulles Toll Road by the private sector and would like to see the concept expanded to build other new roads in the urban crescent.
In addition, he advocates amending the state constitution to allow for the use of pledge bonds.
“This would allow us to put a great infusion of money into ,the transportation network of Virginia right away — not 20 or 30 years from now,” said Beyer.
A regional transportation trust fund with money that is both raised and spent in Northern Virginia is another possible solution that Beyer said has merit.
