‘Apples’program extended
The "Apples for Students" program sponsored by Giant Food and Safeway has been extended through the month of April, according to Liz Blubaugh, the program's coordinator at Rappahannock County Elementary School. So far, Mrs. Blubaugh said, the community's support has far exceeded expectations, and about $100,000 in cash register receipts have been contributed. Any cash register receipts from Giant and Safeway stores may be turned in to the school, as well as to RCHS and to Wakefield, and will be redeemed for computers and software for the schools.
Make-up days set
The county School Board has < , ‘ approved the final schedule of make-up days to cover school cancellations earlier thiSyear. Students will attend school on Saturday, April 7, as well as lose two days of spring vacation, Wednesday and Thursday, April 11 and 12. Two additional days will also be made up on Memorial Day, May 28, and Friday, June 8 (early release at 2 p.m.).
