provide the service we now take for granted. Did the press ever note that mail service never stopped in San Francisco after the earthquake? Outside stations were even set up so that displaced people would be able to receive mail. And, next time we have severe winter weather in our area, be sure to note who is still out on the streets — your letter carriers. Not bad for the proposed 30 cents, is it?
We Americans tend to be demanding and are notorious for finding fault with just about everything. Recently, some Europeans pointed this out to me and said they feel sorry for us because we have so much and still are so unhappy. Do not fall into that trap. Your Postal Service is not perfect, but they are trying to meet your expectations. It would be nice if we at least had the courtesy of recognizing this and what they do for us already.
A grade? Oh yes! Maybe not an “A,” but definitely not an “F” either!!!
