At one end, they erected an “Hbrace,” a commonly used brace in Virginia so named for its appearance. At the other end, they constructed a dead-man brace, which consists of one vertical post and a three-foot-long “dead-man” post buried in the ground.
They also had to demonstrate both how to crimp and how to tie down insulators, necessary for electrified high-tensile fence.
Finally, the team had to make sure the wires registered between 200 and 250 pounds of tension, and that the fence was as straight as they could make it.
