ihe department operates on an annual budget of $100,000. Culpeper County provides $7,700 annually. Probably the greatest expense is for liability insurance ($15,000). Rappahannock County pays the liability, real property, and health and accident insurance for the department through the Rappahannock County Fire and Rescue Association. The Department pays for equipment and maintenance; members pay their own tuition for training.
Since the department must raise the additional hmds to continue to operate, fundraisers are essential to the Department. At carnival time, assistance from the community is greatly needed and appreciated. There are so many areas in which to serve; one does not have to be a firefighter or rescue technician. Donations may be made to the Department by mailing them to P.O. Box 147, Amissville 22002.
