Pinebrooke’s dual diagnosis program is based on the philosophy that chemically dependent patients need treatment for underlying emotional problems. To reduce the chance of relapse, this program is designed to treat both emotional problems and chemical dependency. "Drug or alcohol treatment alone is often not enough to help a patient maintain sobriety,” said Nancy Batiste, RN, program director. “Patients’ addiction may be closely related to family problems or past traumatic events which need psychiatric care.” The short-term intensive therapy practiced by Pinebrooke’s medical director Dr. Jason Worchel is particularly effective with patients who have dual diagnoses. Shortterm therapy helps addicted patients look at their behavior and make critical changes in a short period of time. Board certified in psychiatry, Dr. Worchel brings a special.depth to the program with his extensive qualifications and interest in focusing on each individual.
