Democratic meeting March 22
The Rappahannock County Democratic Committee will meet at the county courthouse on Thursday, March 22 at 8 p.m. Potential candidates for the nomination to Congress representing the Seventh District, including David Smith of Winchester, Bob Frazier of Earlysville and Alexander Peasley of Albemarle County, are expected to attend the meeting. Rappahannock County will host the -r Seventh District Convention this year, and the committee will continue.planning for that event as well as set a date for its mass meeting and picnic. “All Democrats and potential Democrats are encouraged to attend," said county chairman Doug Baumgardner.
State tax help offered
The county Commissioner of Revenue's office will be open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. each weekday until May 1 to answer questions and offer assistance for county residents with questions about their Virginia income tax returns. Commissioner of Revenue Beverly Atkins noted that the office cannot help with federal income tax returns or with questions about personal property taxes. The Rappahannock County Republican Committee will hold a mass meeting on Friday, March 23 at 8 p.m. at the courthouse to elect delegates to the Seventh District Republican Convention, to be held in Charlottesville on May 12. The caucus will also elect officers and members for the county committee. “All Republican supporters are urged to attend this meeting," said county chairman John Marocchi. x
