In Winchester, against very tough competition from around the state of Virginia, the Latin I team of Meredith Fascett, Welby Lynn, Corey Noll, and Kate Quinn took first place. Latin II competitors Eben Darling, Matt Durbin, Bucky Dusek, and Ian McGrath placed second. Also competiting were the upper level team of Marlena Chow, Nancy Chow, Detra Funk and Stephanie Tomeden.

At the Valley competition for Shenandoah Valley schools, held this year at Fort Defiance High School, Wakefield swept the awards with three first places in only its second year of participation in the event.
