The space vacated by surgery is being renovated for a new Laboratory.
The Medical Imaging Department, formerly Radiology, is slated for expansion when the Laboratory moves. Even so, the past year has brought significant changes to this department. MRI service was added, and the ultrasound machine was replaced by state-of-the-art equipment with capabilities to expand services. A radiographictomographic room was replaced, and space is being readied for an in-house CT scanner.
When these projects are accomplished, the focus will turn to Physical Therapy and the Pharmacy. After approximately five years from the beginning of this project, CMH will have in effect a new hospital carefully crafted from the shell of the original hospital. Last year's completions of the Strauss Emergency Department and the Miller Ambulatory Services Center were followed in 1989 with the completions of the new surgical suite, new waiting area, coffee shop, chapel, the new main entrance and lobby, and offices for several hospital departments.
