Even though she was pleased with Dr. Allen's care for seven years. Hopper looked at the question with her customary magnifying glass. She consulted physicians at two large medical centers in Washington, D.C., to research Dr. Allen’s reputation as a surgeon. Finding Dr. Allen's record to be quite satisfactory. Hopper investigated Culpeper Memorial Hospital separately.
A medical center physician told Hopper, "Considering the area from which CMH draws its staff, the hospital is likely to have a hospital staff of much higher quality than a large city hospital or medical center anywhere.”
“Small hospitals have better trained, longer serving staffs than larger hospitals,” he continued.
With these references. Hopper made a carefully considered decision to have Dr. Ben Allen replace her hip at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
Other decisions remained, however.
