Superintendent David Gangel told the School Board last week that new budget figures he received by telephone since the General Assembly adjourned indicate that the school system will receive $10,044 more in state funds for next year’s budget than he had anticipated when he drafted it. He recommended that the monies requested of the county be reduced by a like amount.
However, despite the additional money, because of overall decreases in state aid the budget still requires $308,069 more in county funds than this year for a budget that is scheduled to increase by a total of $289,043.
