A recent law graduate, Hopper applies the same investigation and consideration to her health decisions as she does to her work and education.
When Hopper found that she needed a total hip replacement, she used research and reasoning to choose her surgeon, hospital, and main components of her surgical treatment.
The story began in 1981 when Hopper was experiencing discomfort in her left hip. After consulting orthopedic surgeons in the Washington, D.C., area. Hopper received several different diagnoses of her condition. She was not convinced bv any of them.
