Rappahannock News SUIT Writer , ' In July 1988, Mary Frances Fannon opened Laurel Mills Store in Laurel Mills — very quietly.
“It had to be quiet,” Mrs. Fannon said with smile, sitting in the newly renovated basement, soon-to-be-gallery.
“I didn’t know how to work the cash register,” she laughed.
In the last several years, Mrs. Fannon has learned not only how to work the register in her store, but to stock the shelves, order the inventory, keep the books and price the goods.
