“We need the ideas of parents and teachers in this community,” he said, adding “we are all part of the same educational system. We all have a stake in the education in this county.
“The cornerstone of any PTO organization is communication and it works both ways,” he said, explaining teacher participation is important “because parents are the outsiders. We need feedback from the teachers who are the educational professionals.”
“In this way, we can learn to support the teachers by learning what they do,” enrichment and cultural chairman Mrs. Falk-Morgan said.
The day in the park includes a presentation by Dr. Gangel, a question-answer session, discussion on school topics of concern, such as the need for a middle school in Rappahannock County.
While parents and teachers participate in discussion and listen to speakers, children can participate in games, such as relay races and sackraces, listen to storytelling, have their faces painted, take a hay ride around the park or play on the park equipment.
“This is a time to gain knowledge and become more actively involved with your children and their school,” Mr. Robertson said.
