Sen. Michie has represented the district for 13 years. Mr. Robb said that Sen. Michie is not an effective representative because even though he has seniority, he is not on the prestigious Finance Committee, and he is not chairman of any of the committees he does serve on.
Mr. Robb blames the Democratic controlled statehouse and legislature for the state’s budget problems, saying “The Republicans warned them. They should have cut back long before it became critical.”
He said as the campaign goes on he will make specific suggestions for cutting out agencies and programs that aren’t necessary. “I have a plan to resolve the budget problem,” he said.
