Most people like to see their name in print when something good is said about them; I am no exception.
I appreciate the comments of Ellis Bingham, supervisor for Jackson District, reference my actions in connection with the tar spill on Route 640 on July 18.
However, the real credit goes to J.B. Carter, Co. 3, Amissville, the commander on the scene, his people from Co. 3, responders from Co. 1, Washington; Co. 4, Flint Hill; and Co. 1, Warrenton.
They diked the ditches, dammed the small stream and kept the tar from moving into Mr. Liverman’s pond. All this was done in a very short time and under trying conditions of terrain and heat. These people are to be commended for their quick and effective response.
