'Art in Park'

For two weeks, beginning July 15 and ending July 26, Windmore Foundation for the Arts conducted its “Art in the Park” program for children 5-12.
Approximately 80 children participated in the program', which was to culminate in an art show at Yowell Meadow Park in Culpeper on Saturday, July 27. Saturday turned into a mixed blessing — for while we were blessed with badly needed rain, but it precluded our having the art show in the park.
Fortunately for us, Culpeper Presbyterian Church and Rev. Wayne Bernardo allowed us to have our art show in the basement of their church. They also permitted Windmore to hold the art classes there throughout the two week period.
Although the work was not shown in the park as originally planned, the important thing was to display it for the public and that we were able to do. Children excitedly escorted parents, grandparents, siblings, and friends into what became a colorful and varied display of the children’s creativity.
In putting together this or any other Windmore project, many volunteers are needed and many donations of time and/or equipment are needed as well.
We have been fortunate to have our needs met in the past and I would like to thank those who helped “Art in the Park” meet our and the children’s expectations despite the rain and change of location.
