The sheriffs department must have permission to visit the event to make certain the rules are being followed. If the rules are violated the applicant will not receive a permit for another such event for five years.
Under the proposed amendments County Administrator John McCarthy can issue a permit for such an event “no more frequently than once in three years” if he receives an application 30 days in advance, and the county can set fees for the application.
