Individual to prepare, review, & process material documentation requirements for highway maintenance & construction projects. Attends pre-construction conferences, provides on-site material inspection guidance to contractors & other VDOT employees, documents quality of construction materials, & provides quantity estimates to project personnel. Requires knowledge of highway construction & maintenance materials & their acceptance criteria. Demonstrated ability to read highway construction plans & interpret contract specifications: perform computations: operate microcomputers; & communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Must possess a valid Virginia Operator’s license & safety shoes. May be required to work in the presence of low-level ionizing radiation. Salary: $20,062 -$30,632. TRANSPORTATION SIGN FABRICATOR #13883 - Culpeper. Individual to fabricate highway signs for the Culpeper Regional Sign Shop by using handmade & silkscreening methods. Keeps records of labor & materials used, prepares work orders, packages signs for storage, performs preventive maintenance on sign shop equipment & operates forklift to load'unload signs. Knowledge of highway sign fabrication procedures & basic English & arithmetic. Skill using sign shop equipment, such as sign plotter, band saw, shearing machine, aluminum cutter, tablesaw, stud welder, letter press, circular saw, & drill press. Must be able to perform basic drafting & mathematical computations & measurements; follow verbal & written instructions; operate microcomputers; & perform manual labor and possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) & safety shoes. Salary: $15,357 - $23,447. TRANSPORTATION RESIDENCY MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS MANAGER #10312 - Culpeper Residency. Individual to supervise & direct maintenance operations for the Culpeper Residency, including the roadway & bridge maintenance program. State Force construction program, equipment utilization & repair, safety, building contruction & maintenance. & emergency operations. Supervises & provides technical guidance to subordinate supervisors; prepares & monitors a variety of budgets; develops & administers maintenance contracts; secures donated right of ways; & inspects work performed by contractors and VDOT personnel. Develops & approves work plans & resolves citizen concerns, through correspondence & visits. Requires considerable knowledge of basic engineering concepts & processes; planning, scheduling, & budgeting pnnciples and practices; human resources management techniques & applicable policies & procedures; & highway construction & maintenance practices & procedures. Demonstrated ability to manage a large staff; to develop & monitor numerous budgets; to read & interpret construction plans; to plan, prioritize, & coordinate multiple projects; to communicate effectively; & to interpret & comply with rapidly changing rules, regulations, & technology. A valid Virginia Operator's license is required. THIS POSITION WILL BE FILLED AS A DUEL INCUMBENCY. Salary: $28,652 - $43,747. HIGHWAY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR - #10124, #09789, #03891, & #03242 • Warrenton Residency. Individuals to operate & maintain light & medium duty highway equipment, such as 3 ton dump trucks, tractors. & sickle mowers in the construction & maintenance of roads and their surrounding right of ways. Performs heavy manual labor, such as cutting brush, loading trucks, digging trenches, & mixing concrete. Other duties may include flagging traffic & pushing snow. Requires knowledge of safety practices & the ability to operate & maintain light & medium duty highway equipment & perform manual laobr. Must possess safety shoes & a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Salary: $14,048 - $21,449.
