Hunting
The northern and southern sections of the Skyline Drive will be closed at night from Nov. 8 through Jan 1, 1994 to aid Shenandoah National Park officials in combatting illegal hunting in the park.
These two sections of the drive will be closed from dusk until 8 a.m. for this nearly two-month period. The middle section of the drive from U.S. 211 at Thornton Gap and U.S. 33 at Swift Run Gap will remain open.
Park superintendent J.W. Wade said, “By closing portions of the Skyline Drive, rangers will be able to concentrate patrols on problem areas.
The park will pay a reward to any person who furnishes information which leads to the conviction of anyone who hunts, transports, or attempts to transport illegally taken wildlife within the park.
