this painting and asked Mrs. Welch if she would like to sell prints of it in the catalog.
“Being in the Faith Mountain catalog has helped a lot,” Mrs. Welch said. “In one year, over 900 framed prints of Holstein .35 sold out of the catalog,” she said. Some famous people now. own prints of .35. Randy Travis has three, and Robert Duvall bought one. Next fall, two other Holstein prints will be for fsale in the Faith Mountain catalog.
Mrs. Welch does most of the framing for these prints herself, but admits that she does hire help to do the framing when she has such a large order to fill. Her studio is well equipped with all types of painting and framing supplies. There is also a loft for additional storage.
Mrs. Welch has painted several farms and farm buildings on commission. “They bring back memories, long after the building is gone," she said. She is presently working on a 10 x 16 painting of Clifton Farm in Flint Hill. “It says, ‘old country home’ to me,” she said. It is a beautiful old stone house with a bam and interesting fence lines. Right now she has cards for sale which she had made from a small painting of Clifton done in 1989.
Though she loves to paint old bams and scenery, Mrs. Welch said “I really enjoy painting living things. After sketching it out, I finish the detail on the eyes first, then fill in the rest. There’s a thrill in finishing the eye and having it look like it has life in it.”
