Pianist Lambert Orkis and ’cellist Kenneth Slowik will perform solo and duo works by Bach and Beethoven on period instruments at The Theatre at Washington at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20. The concert is the second performance in this season’s “Smithsonian at Little Washington” series.
Internationally acclaimed performers on original instruments, Orkis and Slowik have performed together for more than a decade, and along with their appearances as a duo, both are founding members of the Castle Trio.
Orkis has been actively involved with the Smithsonian’s chamber music program since 1983. Besides performing with the Castle Trio, he has appeared several times as a soloist with the Smithsonian Chamber Orchestra performing Beethoven concerti on various historical instruments.
Slowik, a curator and musicologist in the Smithsonian’s Division of Musical History, has gained respect as both a scholar and performer. An
