Lord Fairfax Community College was recently awarded a grant for the amount of $3,600. Funding will support continued development of the Tech Prep projects through staff development activities. High school and community college science and technical teachers will ben; efit from this award.
Many career opportunities, sudf as those in the environmental and health occupations, require an inte* grated knowledge of biology and chemistry. Grant monies will benefit students by helping teachers change the way that they teach the sciences: A workshop in Applied Biology/Che? mistry will be held. The workshop will help educators upgrade thdr skills, show them ways to integrate the two subjects and help them apply their lessons to the world of work.
All science and technical teachers from the Lord Fairfax Community College Tech Prep consortium will be invited to attend. The consortium is comprised of the school system of Clarice, Fauquier, Frederick, Pager Rappahannock, Shenandoah and Warren Counties and the City .qf Winchester. »-*
