“The Board is developing a long range plan that should put Ki on a sounder financial footing, if the immediate cash crisis can be surmounted. This plan incudes the expansion of our financial and geographic base, several additional events each year, and more youth program. In the meantime, I fear we need to call on the community for emergency help,” Ms. Portman said.
The Board wants to be part of a unified communty arts movement. One member was quoted as saying, “Somehow, we seem to be letting the county’s lead as a rural showcase in the arts slip through out fingers.”
The Board urges anyone who can made a contribution, especially a challenge grant for matching funds, and anyone who can put them in touch with potential corporate donors, to contact Ki Theatre, P.O. Box 203, Washingotn, Va. 22747, or call 675-1616. All contributions are tax deductible.
With support now Ki Theatre can go on to fulfill its role as a catalyst for the arts. Without it, Ki must close its doors after the Sally Nash performance on Feb. 19, the Board has concluded.
