Customers on Sprint/Centers 678 exchange narrowly approved higher rates to be able to make toll-free calls to Culpeper exchanges in a ballot this winter.
Fifty-four percent of those receiving ballots returned them with 242 or 60.7 percent voting yes and 235 or 49.3 percent voting no.
Bell Atlantic-Virginia, formerly Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone, will now do a cost study to determine how much would be added to their Culpeper customers’ bills to provide toll free ™H« to the 675 exchange. i
If the added cost is less than 5 percent, the enlarged calling area can go into effect immediately.
