the Piedmont Regional Science Fair to be held in Charlottesville on March 18. Senior Division winners at Charlottesville continue on to the State Science Fair and possibly even to the International Science Fair in Birmingham, Ala.
Across the country, science fairs provide opportunities for students to actually do science themselves, and to show off their achievements. Students begin by writing a background research paper. Then they plan and carry out an experiment, collect data, and interpret the results. The fair is the culmination, as students showcase their projects for the judges and the general public.
Awards will be presented to winning students on Friday afternoon. The 1994 Rappahannock Science Fair is jointly sponsored by the Gifted and Talented Program, the science departments, the RCES PTO, and Blueridge Technologies.
