Quite unexpectedly, Ms. Nash inherited a substantial amount of money that made it possible for her to finally define her dream.
She built The Workspace for Choreographers, a mountain retreat and studio, as a rehearsal space available to the dance community at large.
There, she teaches classes, rehearses her own company, and sponsors performances and workshops. Ms. Nash’s foundation gives grants of time and space at The Workspace, providing a guest cabin and studio, for extended periods of time.
At 8 p.m. on Satuday, Feb. 19 Sally Nash and the Last Minute Wood Company will be featured as part of Ki Theatre’s Annual Exchange Series. Using scenes from her early dance works (and some of her original dancers), Ms. Nash and her group will weave a tapestry for the audience of artistic and life events that have influenced her creativity over the last 25 years of dance.
It seems that Ms. Nash dreams have been realized in a big way. “The seeds of what you become are there way ahead, and everything you do contributes to it,” she says.
